Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls (にゃん～ 砂糖 猫 女の子, Nyan~ Satō Neko On'na Noko), often abbreviated by fans as NNSG, is a fanime series created by SoapOpera46. The series contains a total of 11 episodes and a Christmas Special featuring the three main characters Raku-chan, Koneko-chan, and Hitoshi-san.
The series first started on April 9th, 2010 and ended when the final episode came out on December 25th, 2012. It is unlikely that a Season 2 will be released.
The opening theme, "TRUE ♥ LOVE" by jun ft. Schanita, is from Dance Dance Revolution, and the ending theme is an untitled original composition by SoapOpera46. In Episode 10, the opening theme is Whitesnake's "Is This Love", and the ending theme is a cover of Wham!'s "Last Christmas" sung by Koneko-chan.
On April 9th, 2023, Yoli-chan posted to DeviantArt stating that it is okay for fans to use the show in whatever way they'd like, and asking permission is not needed.
Plot[]
The series follows the life of the main characters Raku-chan, Koneko-chan, and Hitoshi-san.
@pixelpudding3914 has written a dramatic summary in the YouTube comments of Episode 10:
- 3 close friends, the level headed calm Koneko, the sweet childish Raku, and pretty flirty Hitoshi, have to battle through hurdles of betrayal, death, and sorrow. As their relationship grows, so do threats to break it, when a handsome mysterious man claims Hitoshi as his own, as Hitoshi struggles to resist his charms. Meanwhile Raku mush push her feelings for Hitoshi further and further down into her. As Koneko watches helplessly as this love triangle destroys her friendship, she finds a new side to Raku, one Raku must be prepared to fight, or else it will consume her and make her life a waking nightmare. While Koneko finds help in an all powerful shrine maiden living a secret double life as an earnest doctor, her spells and power will only get them so far, as Hitoshi desperately wishes things can go back to the way they used be.

Majority of the cast are kept anonymous in the series, with only SoapOpera46 being the only known crew member who is in charge of the art and animation. Fans speculate that she may be also involved with the voice acting.
Legacy[]
Despite the series' age, it has maintained a cult following over the years with lots of fanart, cosplay, and fanfictions. As of December 2023, Episode 1 is currently at 2.3 million views, making it the most popular fanime to date.

- Initially, it was SoapOpera46's friend who created the original concept before Nyan~ Neko Sugar Girls was released. She was helping with the opening until she moved to the USA. Then SoapOpera46 decided to create the show on her own. The description also reveals that the head-shots in the opening were done by her.
